"It's just an opinion, although it's obvious that things are happening that copycat Republic of Moldova and Georgia patterns. Again I will be asked: 'But what evidence do you have?' Let the state institutions tell us if they have evidence and do their job. (...) The SRI should have had signals that this is happening, because we are not toying around. I just don't know why we don't have information from them. And why does Elena Lasconi have to provide the SRI with information? (...) First of all, they should have a civilian leadership, and they haven't had a full-authority management for so long," Lasconi told a press conference at the USR headquarters. She mentioned that the USR is going to notify the state institutions about the way Calin Georgescu's campaign was conducted. "Before the first round of elections, I launched several calls, but I was ridiculed by journalists who asked me to produce all the evidence in the world. I am amazed to see that even now the state institutions are not doing their job. I am not a prosecutor, I am a presidential candidate. When I become the president of Romania, these institutions will definitely no longer idle along. I am once again calling on the Romanian intelligence services, on the six institutions that handle these aspects, to proceed to verifications," she said. Asked if she will participate in a debate with Calin Georgescu, Lasconi replied that at the moment USR is focusing on the parliamentary election. "I will let you know in due time, now we are focusing on the parliamentary election. (...) We'll see", she mentioned. The USR leader also pleaded for a center-right government, which would reform state institutions, cut unnecessary spending and ensure higher incomes for those who work. "I will cooperate with all parties, because as the president of Romania and I will represent all Romanians. Out of respect for the Romanians' vote, I will discuss and sit down with all the parties. But governing, getting out of this economic impasse the current government has brought us into, can only be done with a center-right ruling lineup," she said.
