Romania participates in international tourism fair IBTM World in Barcelona

Romania is present at IBTM World - the international tourism fair specializing in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferencing and Events) segment - in Barcelona, from November 19 to 21, with a stand bringing together 19 co-exhibitors, among tour-operators, travel agencies, hoteliers and Destination Management Organizations (DMOs), informs the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism (MEAT), in a press release sent to AGERPRES on Tuesday.

According to the cited source, the national stand, with an area of 103.25 square meters, was designed in a business format, to support business meetings and exchange of experiences.

"Within this framework, the co-exhibitors will promote services and packages for the corporate segment, including team building and city break solutions. In addition, the tourist destination Romania will be promoted by distributing information material, accessible through QR codes, and also by organizing tastings of local products, such as ROM chocolate, offered by Kandia Dulce. (...) The world's tourist movement is thus increasingly motivated by participation in events, and Romania can respond efficiently to these needs, with 16 international airports and a well-connected network of flights between its cities and the major European capitals. Romania also offers a wide range of hotels and event venues, including some outstanding historical locations and modern, fully equipped facilities. In addition, our country has convention centers, exhibition halls, as well as state-of-the-art technological infrastructure. Furthermore, Romania's participation in IBTM World aims to highlight these competitive advantages, which contribute to the attractiveness of our destination," the press release states.

At the opening of IBTM World, Romania's stand was visited by the Consul General of Romania in Barcelona, Sandra-Liliana Gatejeanu-Gheorghe, who emphasized the importance of developing partnerships to promote Romania on the booming international MICE market.

IBTM World is a reference B2B event for MICE professionals.

In 2023, the fair attracted more than 2,500 exhibitors and 12,000 professionals, with more than 100,000 business meetings established. The exhibition event benefits from an advanced online platform, available to all participants, which facilitates the optimal organization of work agendas. In addition, conferences and sessions are organized to analyze the impact of the evolution of technology and green policies on the development prospects of the MICE segment.
