Voting abroad starts, with opening of polling station in Auckland, New Zealand
Abroad, voting takes place in 950 polling stations, over two days: Saturday, November 30, between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. (local time), and Sunday, December 1, between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. (local time). Considering the time zone differences, voting abroad takes place over 59 hours.
The stations in the west of the United States of America and Canada will be the last to open and at the same time the last to close, Monday, December 2, at 7:00 a.m. Romania's time.
Voters who are at the polling station headquarters at 9:00 p.m., as well as those who are in line outside the polling station headquarters to enter the polling station, can exercise their right to vote up to at 11.59 p.m.
Romanian citizens residing in Romania who are abroad on the voting day cannot vote in the parliamentary elections from November 30 to December 1, 2024.
Romanian citizens who provide proof of domicile abroad with the simple electronic passport for Romanian citizens domiciled abroad (CRDS) within its validity period, or residence abroad, by presenting a document certifying it, can vote in the elections for the Parliament of Romania. states the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The document certifying residence abroad must be accompanied by an identity document, within its validity period, issued by the Romanian authorities.
Holders of CRDS no longer have to present another document to be able to vote at polling stations abroad.
