According to a press release from DIICOT, the investigations target 40 individuals, the majority of whom are students and pupils from educational institutions in Iasi County. The authorities have conducted extensive documentation and investigation activities aimed at combating the trafficking of prohibited substances. The hearings will take place at the DIICOT - Iasi Territorial Service, targeting both the perpetrators and approximately 70 consumers, most of whom are students. The investigations have been supported by the Iasi County School Inspectorate, the Iasi General Directorate for Social Assistance and Child Protection (DGASPC), and the St. Maria Children's Hospital, which monitors cases of minors intoxicated due to the consumption of illegal substances. At the same time, DIICOT prosecutors from the Vaslui Territorial Office, together with officers from the Vaslui Organised Crime Combat Service, are conducting four house searches in the municipality of Barlad, in a case related to the trafficking of psychoactive substances. The evidence gathered revealed that, throughout this year, four individuals have repeatedly sold psychoactive substances to consumers, particularly students from educational institutions in the Barlad municipality. Hearings in this case will take place at the DIICOT - Vaslui Territorial Office. According to the release, this large-scale operation, alongside similar actions carried out by DIICOT prosecutors, represents a prompt and sustained response to combat drug trafficking and consumption among students. It also serves as a wake-up call to raise awareness of the scale of this phenomenon and the need to stop it through joint efforts from the entire community, particularly parents, teachers, and other authorities responsible for prevention.
