New Coradia Stream train returns on tracks
Train IR16001 consisting of Sageata Roşie 1 Coradia Stream left Friday morning, at 5:40, from Bucharest North to Braşov, according to the schedule, according to the information provided to AGERPRES by the Railway Reform Authority (ARF).
At 8:43, the first set of the 37 purchased with the help of non-reimbursable European funds by the Romanian state, through ARF, will return to Bucharest North, as IR16002.
"Following the completion of all checks carried out by Alstom specialists, the company confirms that the Coradia Stream train is fully functional and can run at optimal parameters. As a result, the train will re-enter commercial service, according to the operator's timetable," the representatives of Alstom company informed.
On Thursday morning, the new train was cancelled, due to some errors displayed by the on-board computer, the passengers being rescheduled for the next train, according to ARF.
"The new train had to be canceled this morning following errors displayed by the on-board computer which did not reset in time, after towing to the depot and disconnecting the shunting locomotive. Passengers were redirected to the next scheduled train at 30 minutes later," ARF representatives declared.
For their part, the representatives of the Alstom company stated that the Coradia Stream train is fully functional, but because error messages regarding some functions appeared on the on-board computer, when the train was disconnected from the shunting locomotive, the decision was made that the train should remain in the depot.
"After the successful completion of the inaugural run, when the train was disconnected from the shunting locomotive, error messages regarding some functions appeared on the on-board computer. The train is fully functional, but given the priority given by Alstom to passenger safety above however, we decided to keep the train in the depot, to carry out additional activities in order to confirm the functionalities and safety. The Alstom teams are fully mobilized to evaluate the causes and define the appropriate measures. The company's objective is to return the train to commercial service as soon as possible and to comply with commercial commitments," they said in a statement sent to AGERPRES.
CFR Calatori put into circulation, as of Wednesday, the first electric train made of new rolling stock, the RE-IR TS02 Alstom Coradia Stream frame. The frame is allocated for operation to the national operator CFR Calatori by the Railway Reform Authority, the de facto owner of the Alstom trains purchased for Romania. Moreover, CFR Calatori is the railway operator selected to operate the first 12 trains out of the 37.
The Coradia Stream model is the first train supplied by the manufacturing company Alstom Ferroviaria S.p.A. for rail passenger transport in Romania, within the purchase contract concluded and carried out by ARF.
CFR Calatori operates the Alstom electric frame on the route Bucharest North - Ploiesti West - the stations on Valea Prahovei - Brasov as an Interregio train and with a tariff related to this class of train, according to the public services contract concluded by the company with ARF.
