The value of the deals concluded over the entire year 2023 was $2 billion. Romania recorded the seventh largest transaction in Central and Eastern Europe in 2024, as Banca Transilvania acquired OTB Bank for approximately $400 million. Last year, Romania was third in the regional ranking, propelled by the announcement of the takeover of the Profi chain by Mega Image owner Ahold Delhaize for $1.4 billion. Central and Eastern Europe recorded transactions worth a combined $18 billion in the first nine months of 2024, slightly higher compared to the same period last year. In the regional ranking, the Czech Republic leads with deals worth $4.7 billion, followed by Poland ($2.4 billion) and Romania ($1.7 billion). Slovenia, Hungary and Croatia come next with total deals of $500 million, $300 million and $100 million, respectively.
