Turnover in market services provided to population decreases 1.5% in first 9 months
The turnover in market services provided to the population decreased between January 1 and September 30, 2024, compared to the same period last year, both in gross terms by 1.5% and in seasonally adjusted terms, taking into account working days and seasonality, by 1.3%.
Market services provided to the population, in gross terms, recorded a lower turnover due to declines in turnover in the following sectors: travel agency and tour operator activities (-7.5%), hairdressing and other beauty services (-6.2%), hotel and restaurant activities (-2.1%), and gambling and other recreational activities (-2%). In contrast, laundry and dry cleaning services for textiles and fur products increased 13%.
In September 2024, compared to the previous month, turnover recorded a decrease of 10.4%, due to declines in travel agency and tour operator activities (-22.3%), hotel and restaurant activities (-11.7%), hairdressing and other beauty services (-6.8%), and gambling and other recreational activities (-0.8%). Laundry and dry cleaning services for textiles and fur products grew 2.3%.
In seasonally adjusted terms, the turnover in market services provided to the population in September 2024, compared to the previous month, increased 0.1%.
In September 2024, compared to September 2023, the market services provided to the population, in gross terms, recorded a turnover 0.9% higher than in September 2023, due to increases in laundry and dry cleaning services for textiles and fur products (+22.4%), gambling and other recreational activities (+0.7%), hotel and restaurant activities, and travel agency and tour operator activities (+0.1% each). On the other hand, hairdressing and other beauty services dropped 1%.
In seasonally adjusted terms, market services provided to the population in September 2024 increased 0.5% compared to September 2023.
