The agenda of the meeting includes: Russia's aggression against Ukraine, developments in Georgia, EU-US relations in the context of the presidential elections, the situation in the Middle East, and the security situation in the Horn of Africa, according to a press release of the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE). On the sidelines of the Foreign Affairs Council, there will be an informal working breakfast with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova Mihai Popsoi, initiated by Romania and Lithuania. According to the Foreign Ministry, Russia's aggression against Ukraine will be discussed in the context of developments on the ground and the continued multidimensional support of the EU for Ukraine, with a focus on military aspects and support for the protection of critical infrastructure, especially energy infrastructure, as well as sanctions against Russia, but also Iran, which provides ballistic support to this state. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha will intervene via video conference. Also, the discussions on Georgia will take place in the context of the political situation following the parliamentary elections on October 26, 2024, and reports of irregularities in their organisation. The debate will focus on possible EU response measures, alongside supporting Georgia's return to the path of European integration. EU-US relations will be discussed in the context of the results of the US presidential elections on November 5, 2024, and the implications for the dynamics of dialogue and cooperation between the two sides, the press release also reads. Regarding the situation in the Middle East, recent developments on the ground will be discussed, with a focus on the need for regional de-escalation, as well as the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.
